Tonight’s final Republican US Senate debate had a clear winner: Senator Maggie Hassan.
The two leading Republican candidates made clear just how out of touch they are. Chuck Morse, the architect of NH’s first abortion ban in modern New Hampshire history, said he would support a nationwide abortion ban. Don Bolduc continued to receive sharp criticism for his calls to abolish the FBI and reiterated his support for defunding the Department of Homeland Security.
In response to the final Republican debate of a bruising primary, Maggie for NH spokesperson Kevin Donohoe released the following statement:
“There was one clear winner in the debate tonight, and it was Senator Maggie Hassan. The two leading frontrunners showed just how out of touch they are. Chuck Morse once again made clear he supports a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. Don Bolduc continued to receive sharp criticism from his fellow Republicans for saying he was open to abolishing the FBI.”
“This primary has been a brutal battle between the establishment and outsider candidates, with everyone running to the right. After spending months attacking each other and pushing extreme policy positions, whoever emerges from this mess is already badly damaged.”
Chuck Morse, the “key architect” of New Hampshire’s abortion ban, said he would vote for a similar national abortion ban in the US Senate. The New Hampshire abortion ban engineered by Morse included no exceptions for rape, incest, or fatal fetal anomaly, mandated prison time for doctors, and mandatory ultrasounds. WATCH THE CLIP.
Don Bolduc once again received sharp criticism from his own party for saying in a previous debate that he was open to abolishing the FBI. Tonight, he reiterated his calls to defund the Department of Homeland Security, which includes Customs and Border Protection (CPB), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and counter-terrorism programs that keep us safe.
