Senator Hassan speaks with volunteers at the kick off for OrganizeNH’s Reproductive Rights Weekend of Action.
Exeter, N.H. – In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday to overturn Roe, Senator Maggie Hassan joined volunteers and organizers in Exeter today to kick off OrganizeNH’s Reproductive Rights Weekend of Action.
At a crowded organizing office, Senator Hassan discussed the importance of voting in November in order to protect a woman’s fundamental freedom — and made clear that all of her opponents would vote with Mitch McConnell to ban abortion in every state.
“Whether or not women will have the fundamental right to bodily autonomy, to decide when and if to have a family, and to make the most personal and often complicated decisions that they ever have to make — that’s what’s on the ballot,” Senator Hassan said. “My opponents would be a vote for a national abortion ban and that is what is at stake in this election.”
With Roe overturned, Mitch McConnell now has the opening that he needs to fulfill his decades long push to outlaw abortion nationwide. Senator Hassan’s Republican opponents’ anti-choice records make clear that they would stand with McConnell in his push to ban abortion in every state.
The OrganizeNH event was just the latest event where Senator Hassan has joined Granite Staters to stand against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe. She attended a rally for reproductive rights yesterday in Portsmouth’s Market Square and discussed the importance of voting to prevent a national abortion ban at Portsmouth Pride this afternoon.
