NEW VIDEO: Maggie Hassan’s Campaign Off To Strong Start, Already Building Momentum

Concord – On Monday, Governor Maggie Hassan announced her candidacy to represent New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate, and the campaign has been building strong momentum right out of the gate.

And see below for more on Maggie’s strong first week:

Maggie Pledges To Bring Her Bipartisan Approach, Common Sense, and Commitment to Problem-Solving to the U.S. Senate

The Associated Press reported, “Hassan, who made her announcement in an online video, said she’s running to bring a bipartisan, common-sense governing approach to Washington that mirrors that of New Hampshire. She said Washington has given in to powerful special interests and lobbyists who rig the system against the middle class.”

NHPR added, “Hassan listed her main priorities if elected: curbing college debt, securing more funding for substance abuse treatment and boosting the economy.”

In the AP’s story “Hassan’s political philosophy shaped by advocacy for son,” Senator Jeanne Shaheen also said, “I’ve seen Maggie over the years, and I know that she’s tough, that when she sets her mind to doing something that she goes after it… She works harder than anybody.”

WMUR Poll Shows Race A “Dead Heat,” Maggie’s Approval Strong

“On the day that Gov. Maggie Hassan announced she is officially a candidate for the U.S. Senate, a new WMUR Granite State Poll shows that if the election were held today, she would be in a virtual dead heat.” [Full story]

The poll also showed that 54% of Granite Staters say they approve of the job Maggie is doing as Governor, compared to only 30% who disapprove.

Leading Experts Moved NH Senate Race To “Toss-Up”

The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball both switched their rankings of the race from “leans Republican” to “toss-up” following Maggie’s announcement.

NH1 News: “Hassan Campaign Pokes Holes In Ads By Ayotte’s Special Interest Backers”

Kelly Ayotte’s special interest backers are beginning to find out that they can’t just rewrite Ayotte’s dismal record on women’s health.

Following our fact check of a false ad from a Karl Rove-backed group, NH1 News’s Paul Steinhauser reported, “Hassan Campaign Pokes Holes In Ads By Ayotte’s Special Interest Backers.

WMUR’s John DiStaso added that the campaign “pointed to a litany of votes and statements” contradicting Rove’s ad.

Kelly Ayotte’s Campaign Sends Out State Senator Jeanie Forrester To Go On The Attack… And Falls Flat

Just one day after Maggie announced her candidacy, Kelly Ayotte’s campaign sent out State Senator Jeanie Forrester to go on the attack. But the press conference turned out to be a a fumbling fail (see for yourself in this video clip).

WMUR’s Josh McElveen tweeted, “Worth noting the Anti Hassan #nhgop presser was outnumbered by Senate Dems waiting to offer rebuttals.”
