FACT CHECK: Kelly Ayotte’s Record of Putting Politics Before National Security

MANCHESTER – Kelly Ayotte has repeatedly put her political party and her special interest backers ahead of the national security of the United States.

FACT: Despite the judgment of national security and military experts from her own party who oppose Trump because he presents a clear and present danger to our national security, Ayotte has said “Yes, I do” believe Trump is the best choice for Commander-in-Chief. Even as 50 of the nation’s most senior Republican national security officials spoke out against the dangers of a Trump presidency, Ayotte continued to support him, prioritizing party over county.

FACT: Ayotte missed nearly half of her Homeland Security Committee hearings, including 45 percent of the hearings on border security and two-thirds on drug trafficking, while still making time for fundraisers with her special interest backers.

FACT: Ayotte stood with her special interest backers and repeatedly opposed a bipartisan measure to help prevent terrorists from stockpiling guns.

FACT: Ayotte sided with the Koch Brothers and voted to cut over $1 billion from Homeland Security, including $350 million from border security.
