FACT CHECK: Kelly Ayotte’s Real Record of Standing Up For Wall Street Instead of New Hampshire

GOFFSTOWN – Kelly Ayotte has a history of putting the priorities of her corporate special interest backers on Wall Street before the people and small businesses of New Hampshire. Ayotte has voted to protect taxpayer subsidies for Wall Street executives’ bonuses – even after the financial crisis – and has voted to weaken the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. And Ayotte’s sham student loan bill has been called “a handout to the loan industry,” and a “sweetheart deal for private-sector lenders.”

FACT: Wall Street has donated more than $2.5 million to Ayotte.

FACT: Ayotte voted to protect taxpayer subsidies for bonuses for Wall Street CEOs.

FACT: Ayote has repeatedly voted for budgets that would repeal the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform bill.

FACT: Ayottte has repeatedly voted for measures designed to weaken the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, including her vote just last year for an amendment specifically designed to undermine the CFPB.

FACT: Ayotte introduced a sham student loan bill that has been called a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” Even the conservative American Enterprise Institute said that Ayotte’s bill is a “sweetheart deal” for private sector lenders like those on Wall Street.
